A recent article in the Age newspaper titled, Improve players' lifestyles, urges Parkin, by Caroline Wilson explains a new AFL research study currently being carried out at the Australian Catholic University - QLD campus. Associate Professor John Saunders and Matt Pink (PhD student) are involved in the study.
The AFL's research board is funding the long-term study into the work-life balance of AFL players. The research is being carried out in three stages by the Australian Catholic University with strong support from David Parkin (four-time premiership coach) and the AFL Players Association. There is a view that players who are more actively engaged in society prove to ultimately be better athletes.
