The Faculty of Health Sciences offers courses in biomedical science, clinical education, clinical exercise physiology, counselling, exercise science, health administration, healthcare simulation education, high performance sport, mental health, midwifery, nursing, occupational therapy, paramedicine, physiotherapy, psychology, public health, rehabilitation, social work and speech pathology.
Our vision is to provide caring and prepared graduates who promote health and prevent illness for Australia’s health and sports industries, and provide quality healthcare for vulnerable communities such as the Indigenous, elderly and disabled.
The Faculty's Professional Experience Services incorporates the ACU Health Clinics, the ACU/Partner Clinical Schools, and all administration services surrounding professional practice placements across the Schools of Allied Health, Physiotherapy, Psychology, and Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine. The ACU Health Clinics are situated in Brisbane, Melbourne and North Sydney; these facilities provide a range of student delivered health services to ACU students, staff and the wider community. The clinics provide quality opportunities for student professional practice placement experiences with expert clinicians.
ACU’s links with the healthcare sector have enabled it to become the largest provider of graduate nurses in Australia.
In 2015 the Faculty of Health Sciences introduced its Positioning Statement and Values which is strongly supported by the Executive Dean and Faculty Executive and commits to the values of excellence, dignity and engagement.
The implementation of this Positioning Statement and Values will support the Faculty by enhancing engagement, increasing levels of workforce participation, student experience and encouraging positive workplace behaviours.
If you are enrolling in one of our courses this year I extend a warm welcome to you. The Faculty promotes a friendly atmosphere in which students can pursue their studies with well-qualified and enthusiastic staff. I am sure you will find your studies with the Faculty of Health Sciences a rewarding experience.
