The Mentoring Extension program is a four unit AQF level 9 professional development program. Delivered online, the course provides you with a one unit credit into a masters’ level degree with the Faculty of Education and Arts to help advance your career in Education.

This is a 6 month self-paced online module.

The Mentoring Extension program includes four modules with sequential learning activities including online tasks and reflections, and two assessment tasks:

  • Module One: Mentoring pre-service teachers in context
  • Module Two: Differentiated Mentoring
  • Module Three: Effective Mentoring Strategies
  • Module Four: Evaluating Mentoring

All learning experiences and assessment tasks meet the requirement for post graduate study at the Australian Qualifications Framework, Masters Level 9.

Theories and strategies for effective mentoring are explored in greater depth to build advanced and integrated understanding.

  • analyse critically, reflect on and synthesise mentoring and initial teacher education research to better understand problems, concepts and theories
  • examine and apply established theories of adult learning and mentoring to initial teacher education knowledge and practice
  • interpret and transmit knowledge and skills of mentoring to their learning communities and educational context

Authentic assessment tasks require you to analyse, critically reflect, synthesise and apply new knowledge to enhance the quality of mentoring practices in your educational context.
