ACU’s North Sydney campus is only a short distance across the Harbour Bridge from Sydney’s central business district. The campus is located less than ten minutes’ walk from North Sydney railway station.
The best way to get to the campus is to take a train or bus to North Sydney railway station and then walk the rest of the way.
North Sydney railway station is on the Northern and North Shore train lines. To plan your trip to North Sydney Station, we recommend that you use the NSW Transport Trip Planner. See details about tickets below.
Most bus services to North Sydney stop either at Blue Street outside the railway station, or on the Pacific Highway. We recommend that you use the NSW Transport Trip Planner to plan your bus journey to the campus. See details about tickets below.
Though it is not as convenient as the train or bus, it is possible to catch a ferry to McMahons Point Wharf and walk or catch a bus to the campus from there. The walk up Blues Point Road is very direct, but takes a brisk 20 minutes with numerous stairs and an uphill gradient along the way! (Alternatively, you can catch any of the buses at McMahons Point Wharf – ask the driver to let you out at the closest stop to the intersection of Miller Street and Pacific Highway). Consult the NSW Transport Trip Planner for details, and use Google Maps for the precise walking route if this option interests you. Also see details about tickets below.
Driving is not recommended, because the ACU campus has no parking facilities (although arrangements for disabled parking may be made with ACU’s Campus Operations Manager on (02) 9739 2962). You otherwise only have the option of limited-time metered parking or expensive private parking stations in the North Sydney area – although not surprisingly, there are plenty of taxis or Uber drivers in the area.
Walk from North Sydney station through the Greenwood Plaza and up the escalators until you come out at the intersection of Pacific Highway and Miller Street.
Cross Miller Street at the lights and walk up the Pacific Highway until you reach Charles Street. Turn left at Charles Street and follow the road around to the right for a short distance. Charles Street becomes Napier Street as you follow it to the right – and Tenison Woods House will appear on your left after a short distance. Its address is 8–20 Napier Street. Take the lift to Level 14 for the postgraduate event and to Level 18 for the conference reception.
Most bus stops are outside the railway station on Blue Street, close to the intersection of Blue and Miller Streets. Turn right on Miller Street and walk about a block to the intersection of Miller Street and the Pacific Highway. Then follow the same instructions as those outlined above.
Either walk or catch the bus from the ferry to the intersection of Miller Street and the Pacific Highway, then follow the instructions outlined above.

The ACU campus is about half a block to your right. Walk in the main entrance -– the James Carroll Building will be almost straight in front of you. The conference will be held in rooms 502.2.13, 502.2.20, 502.2.23 and 502.2.28 (located on Level 2 in the James Carroll Building), and in the Ryan Auditorium (upstairs from the other conference rooms). Conference registration will occur in the foyer just outside of the Ryan Auditorium.

If you will be travelling each day via public transport, you should purchase an Opal Card and load money onto it. You can do this at any railway station and many newsagencies (you can find vendors on the Opal website). Opal cards allow you to use multiple modes of public transport, including buses, trains and ferries. You need to swipe your card on the electronic Opal Card readers provided at both the start and end of your journey.
If you only want to travel on public transport one or two times, you may prefer to buy single tickets. If travelling by bus, you can buy your ticket from the driver (with the exception of pre-pay bus services which may only be used by Opal card holders). If travelling by train, you can do this from the ‘Opal top up’ and ‘single trip ticket’ machines at most train stations, including North Sydney station.
