Giving Children the best start in life

ACU's Dr Cathie Harrison has been invited to participate in 'Giving children the best start in life' - a sector-wide response forum to the Productivity Commission's report on Childcare and Early Childhood Learning.

"To be included in this forum along with key people in the field is a sign of recognition of the work I have done in New South Wales in early childhood education and care (ECEC) and at ACU over the last seven years", she said.

The forum has been designed to develop a response to proposed government changes in the ECEC sector and will be hosted by The Institute of Early Childhood (IECS) at Macquarie University on Tuesday the 26th of August.

Dr Cathie Harrison is a Senior Lecturer and Discipline Leader in Early Childhood Education at the ACU's Strathfield campus.  Her teaching at ACU is in the areas of play, early learning, early childhood pedagogy and the creative arts.  She has a diverse range of experience within early childhood education as an academic, teacher, and consultant.  Currently she is also an advisor to the ABC television program Play School, and has been a consultant to a number of museums and community projects.
