Ms Rachel Miles, a final year student from ACU's Brisbane campus has won the 2012 Faculty Medal for the Faculty of Education.
Rachel achieved a GPA score of 6.62 in her Bachelor of Education (Primary) program.
"As a mature age student I was apprehensive about completing a four year degree, but the support I received from the academic and administrative staff at ACU made this a reality. Receiving the Faculty Medal has reinforced my belief in my abilities and encouraged me to explore my potential," said Rachel.
The Faculty Medal is awarded to a student who has demonstrated outstanding academic merit in completing a four-year equivalent full-time undergraduate degree. The award will be presented at the graduation ceremony to be held in Brisbane in early April.
Rachel enrolled as a student after working in the public service sector for 20 years. A career change at this juncture was a big decision. She is now teaching year two students at St Pius Catholic Primary School and is exploring and honing her independent teaching style.
