Literacy and Numeracy Testing for Initial Teacher Education Students

Literacy and Numeracy Testing for Education Students

The Australian Government has introduced a Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students (LANTITE), effective from 2016. Education Ministers across Australia have agreed that, from 1 July, 2016, Initial Teacher Education students across Australia (either undergraduate or postgraduate) will be expected to sit and pass a national literacy and numeracy test (LANTITE) prior to completing their course.

The Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students is designed to assess initial teacher education students’ personal literacy and numeracy skills to ensure teachers are well equipped to meet the demands of teaching and assist higher education providers, teacher employers and the general public to have increased confidence in the skills of graduating teachers.

Students who are due to complete their course requirements by the end of 2016 are eligible for priority access to sit the test. For further information on the Literacy and Numeracy Test for education students at ACU click here.
