Professor Doug Clarke, director of the Mathematics Teaching and Learning Research Centre (MTLRC), celebrates 25 years at Australian Catholic University in 2013.
Professor Clarke has been a chief investigator on major research projects and has published widely in books and journals. Doug is recognised nationally for his excellence in teaching and his contributions to the education and educational research communities. He was a finalist in the Inaugural Prime Minister's Award for University Teacher of the Year (1997), received a State Nomination for the Federal Education Minister Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Improving Literacy and/or Numeracy (2003), and received the 2011 Mathematics Education Research Group of Australasia Research Award.
Through his leadership of the MTLRC and major projects, Doug has worked collaboratively with ACU and many national and international colleagues and contributed to the professional development of primary and secondary teachers of mathematics.
He has also contributed to the University as Chair, University Medals Committee; Chair, University Scholarship Committee; and as a member of Academic Board and Faculty Board.
