Communities, Children and Families Australia is the journal of the Australian College of Child and Family Protection Practitioners, hosted by the Institute of Child Protection Studies at the Australian Catholic University. This new journal aims to increase the professional profile of people who work in all areas of child and family welfare through the promotion of practice research, teaching and learning. It encourages thinking and reflection beyond current models of child protection policy and practice. It is underpinned by assumptions that the challenges faced by children in their families and communities require multiple responses and cannot be effectively addressed through single discipline or siloed approaches.
The journal will particularly encourage interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral research and writing. While open scholarly debate is encouraged, a number of explicit values underpin the journal. These include the view that the experiences of children and young people should be kept at the forefront of practice and research and recognition that children and young people are best understood within the contexts of their families and communities.
Contributions to the journal may include:
Full length theoretical or practice papers (4000-5000 words) which will be double blind reviewed.
