The Australian Catholic University is proud to announce the 2017 Health Executives Symposium in partnership with Catholic Health Australia at the ACU Rome Campus.
Focussing on “stewardship of the mission”, CEOs will hear from leading members of the Roman Curia on where-to for Catholic Healthcare, and how leading researchers are enacting Pope Francis’ call for a “battlefield hospital Church” in terms of health research for the disadvantaged, poor and marginalised.
- How environmental and public health policy, and technological and social justice concepts are creating new interdisciplinary approaches to the eradication of poverty and disease in vulnerable communities globally; and
- Hearing from senior Curial officials on the Holy See’s initiatives to bring about equitable healthcare outcomes.
- Gaining an understanding of the role of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development and what this means for Catholic Healthcare organisations.
- Sharing discussions with fellow CEOs and Chairs from Australia, Asia, Europe and the United States.
- Experiencing some of Vatican City’s hidden sites of religious significance.

20 November AM:
Session 1: The Future of Catholic Healthcare
A presentation by Curial leaders on the Holy See’s new Dicastery of Promoting Integral Human Development and how Catholic healthcare leaders integrate and steer their mission into the future.
20 November PM:
Session 2: Self-Determination & Health: Breaking the Cycle of Poverty & Disease
Presentations by leading researchers and practioners on how environmental and public health and policy, technology and social health/justice are opening new interdisciplinary approaches to the eradication of poverty and disease in vulnerable communities from around the globe.
20 November Evening:
Networking event at the Australian Embassy to the Holy See: cocktails and canapés.
21 November AM:
Morning Mass at the Tomb of St Peter at the Basilica followed by a guided tour of sites of religious significance.
21 November PM:
Presentation by the Holy See

ACU Rome Campus is located on the Janiculum Hill between the historic neighbourhood of Trastevere below and the modern neighbourhood of Monteverde above. Both are within walking distance of the Campus and are very safe neighbourhoods. Trastevere is especially known for its restaurants and lively night life.
The neighbourhoods of St. Peter’s (Borgo), Piazza Navona, Pantheon, and the Ghetto are all within easy walking distance of the Rome Campus as well.
