Scholarship and Research

Australian Catholic University's (ACU) community engagement, through its strategic partnerships, is aimed at making a difference in public policy and practice in government and other sectors at local, national and international levels. ACU's mission based commitment to social justice, the dignity of people and promoting the common good calls for a transformative role in the domain of policy and practice based on scholarship and research.

Values, identity and mission require ACU to show how its community engagement is mission driven in ways which reflect and inform its values and identity as well as public policy. Scholarship expresses the core academic role of the institution with this scholarship being discipline based and cross-disciplinary as well as including scholarship in the area of community engagement itself. The nexus emphasises the central role of community engagement for the University's teaching and research. One of the core strengths of the University's distinctive and mission based approach to community engagement is the way that it informs and is informed by the University's teaching and research.
