Director's Profile
Professor Jude Butcher cfc AM is the Director, Institute for Advancing Community Engagement at Australian Catholic University.
Previously Professor Butcher held the position of Head of School of Education and Head of Department of Education at the University and its predecessor colleges for more than 30 years.
Professor Butcher's current research interests include:
- Community engagement, equity and learning.
- Educational capacity building.
- Socially responsible and ethical organisations, particularly educational organisations.
- Teacher education and professional development areas of study include teachers' professional development particularly in the classroom management domain, social justice, and education and community engagement.
Professor Butcher has been involved in Indigenous education for almost 20 years and in educational capacity building in East Timor for seven years.
