Sister Sandra Lupi

Sandra Lupi joined the Brisbane Sisters of Mercy in 1966. After graduating as a Primary School Teacher from the Catherine McAuley Teacher Training College in 1970, Sandra taught in Catholic Primary Schools for over 10 years in the Archdiocese of Brisbane and the Diocese of Toowoomba. Her ministry in the tertiary scene began in the early 1980s at the University of Queensland Chaplaincy Centre and she was later appointed Campus Minister at McAuley College. In 1988, Sandra was employed as Coordinator of Campus Ministry and Student Services at ACU McAuley Campus until she was elected as a member of the Congregation Leadership Team in 1994.
After serving five years in this capacity, Sandra took on a position within the Queensland Government in the Department of Housing. She was the Community Facilitator in the newly-established Community Renewal Programme in Deception Bay. Her role there was community capacity building and networking with local community groups and government departments to put in place a community engagement model of addressing needs within the local area. During this time, Sandra completed a Masters Degree in Social Administration from the University of Queensland, with a major in Community Development.
Sandra is currently Congregation Leader of the Sisters of Mercy Brisbane Congregation. Having worked in the community in a variety of fields from primary schools to university campuses and, more recently, within local neighbourhood communities, Sandra has a particular interest in community engagement at various levels.
