Here are some travel tips for making the voyage to our Rome Campus.
Getting to Rome from Australia
A number of airlines will get you to Rome, including Qantas, Virgin, British Airways, Singapore Airlines and Emirates just to name a few. Different airlines will have different stopovers and flight lengths, so do your research and choose the flight that suits your needs, and your budget, best.
You can book your flights directly with an airline, or through an intermediary service such as Webjet or Expedia. Alternatively, you can enlist the services of a travel agent for assistance with planning your trip.
It’s also important to note there are two different airports in Rome, Ciampino and Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci). Each airport is serviced by different airlines, and you can find your way to our Rome Campus from either airport.
Travelling around Rome
Rome Campus location and surrounds
The Rome Campus is located at Via Garibaldi 28, just above the ancient Roman neighborhood of Trastevere.
The crest of the Janiculum Hill is only two blocks from the campus, and close to the modern neighborhood of Monteverde. Both Trastevere and Monteverde are filled with restaurants, shops, and things to do. Four buses stop immediately outside the campus gates, which can take you across the river to the Pantheon or the Colosseum. The Trastevere streetcar line is only a five-minute walk away, which can quickly take you to the local Trastevere train station. From there, the airport is only a 30 minute train ride away.
The campus is four blocks from a public hospital and a 15-minute walk from a private, English-speaking hospital. The campus borders the Irish Embassy and a centre run by the Sant’ Egidio Community, a Catholic Church’s public lay association. The American Academy in Rome is just around the corner.
Travelling to the campus from the airport
Taxi is the fastest way to get from the Ciampino and Fiumicino airports to our campus (approximately 30 minute trip). However, bus and train are more affordable options. A train runs from Fiumicino airport to the Trastevere train station. Alternatively, you can catch a bus from Ciampino airport.
