The Flagship promotes quality research and a national perspective on mathematics and literacy teaching and learning, with a commitment to the access to quality learning for all.

With campuses in Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Ballarat, and Melbourne, the Flagship is ideally placed to support research and professional development. Representatives of schools, school systems, parents, funding bodies, industry and other community groups are encouraged to contact the Flagship in relation to research, professional development, and consultancy.

Common themes of Flagship activity

The understanding of mathematics and literacy that young children bring to school and its development through the years of schooling, particularly the transition years.
Linking theory with practice in partnerships with teachers, schools and systems.
Responding to the needs of special groups, particularly disadvantaged groups.
Home-school-community partnerships.
Culturally-relevant approaches to learning and curriculum.
