Ordering Library Resources

Ordering Library Resources
The selection of library resources is a joint responsibility of library and academic staff. Subscriptions to electronic databases, ejournals and hard copy journals are reviewed annually, with decisions made about renewals, cancellations and new subscriptions. Suggestions for new titles are always welcome.

It is University policy that campus libraries hold at least one copy of all recommended readings. As part of the Library's quality assurance program, unit outlines are routinely checked and orders placed for items not held. Teaching staff should lodge a copy of their unit outlines with the Library prior to the start of each semester. The University's Guidelines for Reference Lists in Unit Outlines set out the formal requirements.

Making a Request
The Library's Collection Development Policy sets out guidelines for the way in which the paper and online collections are built and maintained.  Library staff are ready and willing to help with the selection of appropriate resources to support both teaching and research. They can help you create lists of current publications within a subject area, using suppliers' online databases and catalogues.

To request an item fill out the online form below. This will be routed to your Liaison Librarian. The library catalogue will record progress from order to shelf readiness. Depending on the availability of the item, the responsiveness of the supplier and shipping, it will take on average between one and twelve weeks from the time of order till the item is ready for use.
