Community Engagement Advisory Committee

Terms of Reference


  • To advise the Quality Management Committee, Strategic Review Committee and, where appropriate, Academic Board on the development and implementation of the concept of Community Engagement as set out in the University Statement on Community Engagement (2002).
  • To consider the outcomes of the AUQA Audit Report, and to prepare specific proposals for consideration by the Quality Management Committee, the Strategic Review Committee and Academic Board. 
  • To act as a focus for ongoing discussion and communication within the University about possible opportunities in the area of Community Engagement.
  • To review the criteria and procedures for the Award for Outstanding Community Engagement and make appropriate recommendations for change to the Academic Board.

Membership


  • Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Quality and Engagement)
  • Dean of Students
  • Director, International Education
  • Director, University Relations
  • Director, Institute for Advancing Community Engagement
  • One member nominated by each of the Faculty Deans
  • Two external members with experience of relevant community engagement
  • One student nominated by the Dean of Students
  • Manager (Planning and Quality)

The Chairperson will be appointed from among the members by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Quality and Engagement) following consultation with the Vice-Chancellor.  The Manager (Planning and Quality) will act as Executive Officer to the Committee.

Members who are not ex-officio will ordinarily serve for a period of two years.

Meetings of the Committee be held normally three times per year with advisory reports being provided to the relevant bodies as appropriate.

The Dean of Students will nominate a student to serve on the committee, generally for a period of one year.
