Staff room

There is a staffroom located on Level 3 of the James Carroll Building.

This room is available to all staff and contains a table, chairs, kitchen utensils and appliances, and tea, coffee, milk and sugar which is supplied by Facilities Management.

Chapel

The Chapel opened in 2012 and is dedicated to Our Lady Seat of Wisdom who is the patron of Catholic Universities around the world. The garden leading into the Chapel is designed as a place for quiet prayer and reflection, while the Rose Garden out the front of the Chapel on Edward Street is dedicated to Our Lady.

The Chapel is open daily from 8:00am to 5:00pm for private prayer and devotions. Mass is celebrated each week and staff and students are most welcome to attend Mass and other gatherings for public prayer.

Student Common Room

The Student Common Room is located in front of the Canteen on Level 3 of the James Carroll Building and is designed as a space to eat, socialise and relax. This area includes tables, chairs, pool tables, lounges, and some kitchen appliances (hot water zip tap / microwave). The MAKSA Student Association Office is located in the corner of the Student Common Room.

Courtyard

The courtyard located outside Level 3 of the James Carroll Building is an outdoor space set up with tables, chairs, and sun-shelters. There is also a barbeque in this area - please contact the Student Association if you are interested in using this barbeque for an event.

Higher Degree Research Space

There are drop-in spaces for higher degree research students across the campus. This room provides students with an opportunity to work and study in a quiet and peaceful environment. These spaces are not to be used by undergraduate students. Please refer to list below.

Prayer Room

There is a multifaith prayer room on Level 2 of the James Carroll Building near the Auditorium.

Smoke free campus

ACU values the health and wellbeing of students and staff and is committed to providing a smoke free study environment. This means smoking is not permitted anywhere within ACU buildings, grounds or controlled vehicles.

During the transition phase to smoke free status there is a temporary designated smoking area on North Sydney campus, located adjacent to the James Carroll Building, in the upper courtyard near the driveway.

Mailroom

There is a Mailroom located on Level 1 of 23 Berry Street. This room is for the drop off area for mail, deliveries and the sorting area for outgoing mail.

Mail procedure

There is a daily pickup and drop off of mail conducted by our local security team from Monday – Friday.

The mail is then sorted through by Facilities Management (Security). All internal mail gets sorted into pigeon holes to be delivered that day. All external mail is franked (please ensure you specify your cost code on the item of mail) and dropped and collected by Australia Post every day.

If you plan on dropping off a large amount of mail that needs franking, please advise Service Central ahead of time.

Inter-campus mail

Every weekday a courier delivers internal mail and packages between the North Sydney and Strathfield Campuses. Please make sure any post for Strathfield is delivered to Reception before 12pm for same day delivery.

There is also an internal mail service between Strathfield and Blacktown which occurs three times a week over the days of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. For any internal mail going to Blacktown from North Sydney, please have this sent to Strathfield via internal mail with a note clearly stating its destination of Blacktown. It will then be sorted and redirected to Blacktown via their internal mail run. Please be mindful of the time for sorting, redirecting and the run dates of Tuesday – Thursday only for Blacktown internal mail.

For any urgent mail, please consider to send these directly via Australia Post or use a courier service.

Reception also sends daily interstate envelopes to all other campus with small internal mail items. Please contact Facilities Admin (FM.NSY@acu.edu ) if you have any queries about this service.

Campus concierge

The North Sydney Reception is located on ground floor 8-20 Napier Street, North Sydney.

Opening hours are Monday to Friday from 9:00am - 5:00pm.

To restock your staff kitchen amenities such as sugar, tea, granulated coffee, cleaning supplies (dish washing liquid, powder, sponges, rinse aid), handtowels, tissues and hand wash, please kindly approach the Facilities reception desk at ground floor, 8-20 Napier Street to collect your items in person. We recommend to bring your own box or bag for carrying assistance of your supplies.

Lost property

Any lost property found on campus should be handed in to Campus Concierge, Ground Floor of 8-20 Napier Street, Tenison Woods House. Campus Concierge should also be the first place you contact if you have lost anything in and around the campus. You can reach Reception on (07) 3623 2802

First Aid/Parents Room

This room is available to students or staff who are sick, have injured themselves or need privacy with their child. In this room, you will find a hospital bed, lounge, sink, microwave, baby table, and chairs. To enter this room you must report to Reception and leave your name and student/ staff number to get the key. The key must be returned to Reception after use of the room.

Justice of the Peace

There are a number of Justice's of Peace on campus who are available to help staff certify their documents.

They are:

Security

  • Security patrols North Sydney Campus Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 12:00am, and weekends, 8:00am - 6:00pm.

Door signage

Requests for door signage or name plates should be made via Service Central at staff.acu.edu.au/servicecentral or by phoning (07) 3623 7272.

Keys/swipe cards

All requests for keys and access control cards must be made via Service Central at staff.acu.edu.au/servicecentral or by phoning (07) 3623 7272.

Facilities Management will then organise the required key/ swipe card and contact you when it is ready to collect. You will need to visit Security on level 1, 23 Berry Street to collect and sign for the key or swipe card.

All keys and swipe cards must be returned when staff members leave.

Some requests for access may need to be approved by a supervisor or head of school.

Please notify Facilities Management immediately if a key or swipe card has been lost.

All maintenance requests should be made via Service Central at staff.acu.edu.au/servicecentral or by phoning (07) 3623 7272.

Locker hire

Lockers are located on Level 1 of the James Carroll Building in the male and female toilets. Day use locker hire for staff is free.

Staff amenities

There are day use lockers, showers and bike racks available at every campus. The link below contains a document that lists the location and other important details of your campus's bike racks, lockers, and showers.

ACU Sports Gym North Sydney

Staff are welcome to use the ACU Sports Gym located at the ground floor of 33 Berry Street. This is a modern, fully equipped gym and fitness facility. Change rooms, lockers and showers available. Discount rates are available to student and staff members.

Bookshop

The School Locker is the preferred ACU textbook and branded merchandise supplier, with retail stores on ACU campuses. Purchases can be made instore or online.

The School Locker carries a range of textbooks, course and subject supplies and software. It has a range of technology products and is an accredited Mac1 service provider.

It also carries ACU branded clothing and gifts.

The School Locker is located 12 Berry St, next door to Champagnat House (Building 526).

Recycling

North Sydney has recycling bins located in all common areas and kitchens. Facilities Management encourages all staff to recycle.

There is a three bin system at the campus. This includes:

  1. A paper recycling bin
  2. A general recycling bin (cans, bottles, clean plastic container etc)
  3. A landfill bin (food scraps, food wrappers, non-recylable waste)

Please make sure you sort your rubbish into the correct bin.
