Archiving is available for all staff but please note storage space is limited.

Archiving request

Staff members who wish to store material in the campus archives should make a request via Service Central.

After the service desk request has been lodged, you will be contacted to ascertain that the item(s) are to be stored in the campus archives. Boxes will then be delivered to you by Campus Operations.

When archiving material please keep your own records of what is to be stored and have your own numbering system for the boxes.

The following information will also be collected by Campus Operations:

  • Name of Faculty or Organisational Unit
  • Name of Staff Member (if applicable)
  • Type of materials (list of contents should be included)
  • Clients numbering system
  • Date of materials
  • Date for destruction, review or permanent retention (this is most important, please refer to the ACU Policy on Archiving).

When the boxes are ready for collection, please request removal through the Service Desk and Campus Operations will have the boxes collected.

Retrieval of boxes from archive

If you require a box from the archive, contact Campus Operations with relevant information on the box you wish to look at. The box will be delivered as soon as possible.

Cafe

The Banyo Cafe is located on the ground floor of Building 205 and is open daily.

The cafe serves a wide range of food and beverages. The alfresco dining area seats up to 100 and is a great place to sit and enjoy the beautiful surrounding landscape. The café also has a liquor licence and alcoholic beverages are available for purchase after midday each day. Proof of Age identification may be required.

The Junction café is located outside of Building 220 and serves a range of wraps, sandwiches, coffees, snacks and soft drinks.

Campus catering can be organised through the café; please email Banyo.cafeandbar@acu.edu.au to discuss your catering needs.

Staff room

There is a staff common room located in Bld 200, just along the colonnade from the entrance to the canteen.

This room provides staff with a place to sit and eat, meet other staff and relax. This area includes tables, chairs, a pool table, lounges, and a kitchen with tea and coffee making supplies and a microwave oven.

Nursing mothers and parenting room

A Parents' Room is available on the Ground Floor of Bld 206 for student and staff use. Contact security on 04 472 68438 for access.

Chapel

The Chapel is located on the Ground Floor directly through the Main Reception doors in Bld 201 Block. A variety of religious services for both students and staff are held in the Chapel.

Mass is celebrated on Monday - Thursday at 12 noon. Staff are most welcome to attend Mass and other gatherings for public prayer. All are welcome to use the Chapel for quiet prayer and reflection.

Telephones

In-house telephones are located in most lecture rooms for emergency use, with speed dial to important numbers. These telephones can also be used to contact staff on their four-digit extension numbers.

Smoke free campus

ACU values the health and wellbeing of students and staff and is committed to providing a smoke free study environment. This means smoking is not permitted anywhere within ACU buildings, grounds or controlled vehicles.

The Mailroom is located in Bld 200.1.23

Opening hours are: 8:00am – 3:30pm.

Incoming mail

Australia Post delivers mail once a day and this can be collected from 11am from the School/Department pigeonholes in the Mailroom.

Outgoing mail

Outgoing mail is collected by Australia Post at 3:15pm daily. Please ensure that all outgoing mail is deposited in the Mailroom by 3:00pm at the latest. For chargeback purposes please ensure Faculty/Department Name or Cost Code is written or stamped on all mail.

Internal mail

Internal mail is for distribution within McAuley Campus only. Internal Mail going to other ACU campuses needs to be addressed as normal mail (see outgoing mail).

Australia Post products

There is a variety of Australia Post Products available for departmental purchase. This includes tough/padded bags, express envelopes and satchels. For departmental use, cost codes will be required.

There is an Australia post vending machine for personal purchases next to Bld 204.1 (Library)

Mail outs

In order to avoid delays caused by the handling of large quantities of mail for dispatch, Schools/Departments anticipating bulk mailouts should seek advice from the mailroom personnel.

The Brisbane Facilities Management team are located at Bld. 200.1.23 and can be contacted using the phone in that room.

Facilities Management offers a variety of services, including:

  • First point of contact for Contractors
  • Campus maps
  • Visitor parking
  • Taxi call for staff and visitors

Lost property

Any lost property should be handed in to Facilities Management Any valuables lost or stolen should be reported to Service Central or the Security Office at the earliest convenience.

Found property will be kept by Facilities Management until the end of each year.

Please contact Service Central on 1300 ASK ACU if you have any enquires about lost property.

Noticeboards

Noticeboards are located throughout the campus. Notices regarding upcoming events, general information, accommodation and employment are placed on these boards. 

Boards are located at Bld. 200.1, 206.G, 209.G, 207.G, 220.G, 220.1 and 220.2

It is important to check noticeboards frequently to keep up to date with new information.

Boards are regularly cleared of out-of-date material and advertising.

 

Security

Facilities Team is responsible for the security of property and buildings on the Banyo Campus.

A Security Guard is on duty each weekday from 6:00am - 10:30pm and on weekends from 8:30am - 5:30pm. These guards are available to staff and students for any security related issues.

Guards perform a variety of functions that include first aid, the opening and securing of all buildings and surveillance of grounds. They also provide an escort service from the University to the carpark when requested.

Keys and access control cards

All requests for keys and access control cards must be made through Service Central. All keys and access control cards are to be signed out and returned to Facilities upon cessation of employment or transfer.

Lost keys or access control cards must be reported immediately. Replacements will be issued at a cost to the School or Department.

Maintenance

All maintenance requests should be made through Service Central.

Door signage

Requests for door signage or name plates should be made through Service Central.

Swimming Pool

Brisbane has a 25 metre heated swimming pool available for staff and students to use throughout the year. The pool is located on the northern side of Bld 211 and is open from 7:00am until 5:00pm on weekdays.

If you intend to visit the pool, you must bring along a companion for your own safety.

Sports field

There are two natural grass sports ovals on the campus. Students and staff are able to use these ovals for sporting activities.

Brisbane Exercise Science Gym

The gym offers state of the art equipment and exercise physiologists. ACU Sport offers 6 week challenges, including HIIT and Pilates classes during Semester.

Staff amenities

There are lockers, showers and bike racks available on campus. The link below contains a document that lists the location and other important details of your campus's bike racks, lockers, and showers.

Recycling

Recycling is encouraged at Banyo Campus.

  • There are yellow lid bins for general recycled paper and plastic
  • There are blue lid bins for paper recycling only
  • There are orange bins for paper that require confidential disposal stationed in various locations. (These bins can be provided upon request)

Bins of both types can be requested via Service Central.

When bins are full, please make a further service request for their collection and replacement if required.

School Locker

The School Locker is the preferred ACU textbook and branded merchandise supplier, with retail stores on ACU campuses. Purchases can be made instore or online.

The School Locker carries a range of textbooks, course and subject supplies and software. It has a range of technology products and is an accredited Mac1 service provider. It also carries ACU branded clothing and gifts.

The School Locker is located Ground floor, Building 203.
